Luxembourg - DPR Korea 1-2

Luxembourg coach Håkan Grönlund opted for Philippe Lepage in goal. Philippe did not disappoint his leader in the first stanza. He swept all 23 shots on goal aside. Although being heavily outshot by the Korean squad and playing shorthanded for many a minute Team Luxembourg was able to keep the score 0-0 after fourty minutes of play. On account of following a weak opening period with a stronger middle stanza. Korea finally found the key to beat Lepage at 45.01. The goal came from the stick of Chol Mun. With Danish referee Jakob Grumsen calling a hooking penalty against Chol Min Ri defenseman François Schons beat the North-Korean goaltender on a Robert Beran feed for 1-1 at 54.59. However with Eric Wambach serving a minor penalty the DPR Korea, Kwang Hyok Kim, scored again for 1-2 after 57.20. At 58.16 coach Håkan Grönlund took a time out and after that kept goalie Philippe Lepage in the bench for a sixth skater. Helped by a too many men on the ice infraction by Korea Luxembourg had a two men advantage. But despite this splendid opportunity Team Luxembourg did not score a second marker and Korea won the game with the smallest of margins, 1-2. Deservedly goaltender Philippe Lepage was voted Team Luxembourgs MVP.
