Team Luxembourg had seen the skilful play of the South Africans. But got a boost from their performance against top team DPR Korea. South Africa was in a winning mood after two clear wins. Both teams relied on the goaltender from the previous match. So Philippe Lepage was in goal for Luxembourg and Ashley Bock for South Africa. A roughing call against Kieren Edge led to the 1-0 by Thierry Holtzem at 4.27. George Lyon rebuked the Jean-Claude Strasser hooking penalty for the equilizer at 6.56, 1-1. At 26.22 Patrick Schon tallied his first marker of the tournament, 2-1. Only for Philip Woolf to hit back shortly afterwards, 2-2. Andre Marais and Carel Esterhuizen put South Africa up 2-4 going into the second intermission. Ryan Marsh then made it a 2-5 game shortly after the second restart, 42.40. Yves Dessouroux put the puck home for the 3-5 at 49.18. Thierry holtzem was caugth high sticking at 58.09. Shortly followed to the penalty box by South African Marc Giot (58.29). Coach Håkan Grönlund ordered his goaltender Philippe Lepage to the players bench at 58.56. And with Andre Marais penalised for delaying the game at 59.20 Team Luxembourg had a surplus of two skaters on the ice. At 59.36 Benny Welter scored 4-5. But only seconds (59.47) later goaltender Philippe Lepage had to defend his cage again. Although outshooting South Africa 42 to 39 Team Luxembourg lost the second consecutive match with a margin of one goal. Final score: 4-5. Patrick Schon was elected MVP of his team for this encounter.
