TORNADO LUXEMBOURG, 2006-2007: CSG Colmar - Tornado Luxembourg 5-6 (17-03-2007)

Tornado won it's final competition French Division 3 competition match 5-6 in Colmar. In a challenging encounter, with many a penalty box visit by players of both teams, we managed to defend our second pace in the final standings of the Division Poule K Play Downs. In the first twenty minutes Luxembourg was not able to dictate the play, 1-0. In the middle stanza the team accellerated and star-forward Ben Houdremont had a stick in all goals eshtablishing a 3-6 lead. In the final period we let them come back, but won the encounter 5-6.

Tornado hat sein letztes Ligaspiel in der Französischen 3. Liga mit 5-6 in Colmar gewonnen. In einem hart umkämpften Spiel mit vielen Strafzeiten auf beiden Seiten konnten wir unseren 2. Tabellenplatz in der Abstiegsrunde verteidigen. Im ersten Drittel konnte Tornado noch keine Akzente setzen und das Drittel endete mit 1-0. Im 2. Drittel lief es dann besser, und der gut aufgelegte Ben Houdremont war an allen Toren zum 3-6 Vorsprung beteiligt. Im letzten Drittel konnten die Franzosen dann wieder auf 5-6 verkürzen.

Non-playing defenseman Ronny Scheier replaced Hakan Grönlund as coach. Rafael Springer filled the defensive gap. From 4.24 until 5.51 Tornado played two men short for David Kraus (slashing) and Serge Milano (hooking) warmed the penalty bench. But goalie Marc Renard kept his nets clean. But aftre the halfway mark of the first stanza Colmar tallied for 1-0 (12.09). From 13.38 until 18.13 Tornado was constantly on the powerplay, with for some time having a two men advantage.
In the second period François Schons and Serge Milano had just returned four second after their penalty, when Robert Beran converted a Yannick Back pass for the equilizer at 20.17. A powerplay effort. Ben Houdremont scored solo a shorthander for 1-2 after 26.09. But seconds later the puck was in the Tornado nets, 2-2. Again Ben Houdremont tormented the French goalie and tallied for 2-3 at 28.05. Ben Houdremont set up defenseman Marian Gallo, who made it a 2-4 match after 31.26. With Robert Beran in the penalty box for hooking the French replied, 3-4. But shortly after leaving the sin bin Robert Beran hit home a Ben Houdremont pass for a powerplay goal, 3-5 (35.15). The same set up for the next powerplay marker, Ben Houdremont assisting Robert Beran on his third powerplay goal for 3-6 at 39.50.
In the final twenty minutes Colmar scored twice. And at 56.40 Pierre marie Hutter received a minor penalty for tripping and a match penalty. But without further casualties Tornado welcomed the final buzzer and troimphed 5-6.
