With more players available than for the first test match against
the same opponent (EHC Zweibrücken) Tornado showed some progress.
Still Luxembourg trailed after 20 minutes (0-3). In the second
period Tornado doubled their effort and defenseman François
Schons hit the net for 1-3 after 32.52. But before the stanza
ended EHC replied for 1-4.
Towards the end of the match Luxembourg had many a fine chance.
Only one could be cashed, in the 56th minute of play, for the
final 2-7 score. Tornado lost newcomer Florent Zingraff with a
hand injury.
Tornado Luxembourg could only ice ten players for the away preparation match versus German EHC Zweibrücken on Sunday Sept. 24th, 2006. After facing the Cologne Sharks Veterans with many guest players Tornado's real first encounter proved to be just that. Just a test match. The mini equipe fell behind 6-0 after two periods. Only after the EHC changed goalies Tornado coould make their point. Peter Lutter converted a Jani Seligson pass for 6-1 after 47:55. In the final five minutes, when the going got tough and the Luxembourg mini squad became tired, defenseman Marian Gallo managed to score twice. First a powerplay marker for 10-2 at 55:33 (assists François Schons and Ronny Scheier) and then at 58.34 for 11-3, with the assistance of Ronny Scheier and Patrick Schon. During the match Tornado lost forward David Kruas with a game misconduct penalty. Final score: 12-3.
