Anthony Mortas Appointed National Coach of Luxembourg Hockey
23rd May 2026
Federation Luxembourgeoise de Hockey sur Glace

The Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Hockey sur Glace (FLHG) is proud to announce the appointment of Anthony Mortas as National Coach, a newly created position that marks another important step in the long-term development and structuration of Luxembourg hockey.
This new role is fully integrated into the federation’s broader Vision 2030 project led by Directeur Technique National Christer Eriksson, whose objective is to progressively strengthen the national development pathway across all levels of the game.
As Luxembourg hockey continues evolving rapidly — with growing youth participation, stronger club structures, expanded development programs, and increasing international ambitions — the federation identified the need to create greater continuity and alignment between the U18, U20, and Senior National Teams.Â
Anthony Mortas will therefore work across all national-team categories while collaborating closely with the federation’s technical structures, clubs, coaches, and development programs.
A highly respected figure in French hockey, Anthony Mortas brings with him decades of experience both as a player and as a coach.
As a player, the former French international enjoyed a long professional career mainly with Reims and Amiens in Ligue Magnus, the top French division. He represented France internationally and notably competed at both the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympic Games.Â
Following his playing career, Mortas progressively moved behind the bench, notably within the Amiens organization, where he worked as assistant coach before becoming Head Coach of the Gothiques de Amiens in Ligue Magnus. More recently, he served as Head Coach of Morzine-Avoriaz.Â
His mission within the FLHG structure will notably include:
- supporting the progression of players from youth hockey toward senior international hockey,
- reinforcing coaching continuity and player follow-up,
- contributing to National Development Programs,
- helping structure modern preparation environments,
- and supporting the federation’s long-term performance objectives.
This appointment also reflects the federation’s desire to progressively move toward more professionalized operational standards within the Luxembourg hockey ecosystem.Â
The federation believes Anthony Mortas’ experience, leadership, and player-development philosophy fit perfectly within the current evolution of Luxembourg hockey and the long-term vision established by Christer Eriksson and the FLHG.
For the FLHG, this appointment is not simply about one season or one competition cycle.
It represents another important building block in the federation’s ambition to create a sustainable national hockey model capable of supporting player development, strengthening international competitiveness, and continuing the growth of the sport across the country.
Luxembourg hockey is entering another era — and this is another important step forward.
