On-Ice Official Level 2: Take the Next Step as an Ice Hockey Official

The Luxembourg Ice Hockey Federation (FLHG) is pleased to announce the upcoming On-Ice Official Level 2 training programme, designed for those who want to develop their skills and take the next step in ice hockey officiating.

Developing and supporting qualified officials is essential to the continued growth of ice hockey in Luxembourg. This programme offers participants the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of the rules and game procedures while developing the practical skills and confidence required to officiate games more independently.

A three-part training programme
The Level 2 programme will combine online learning with practical, on-ice training:
20 September | 19:30-21:00 — Online session
24 September | 19:30-21:00 — Online session
27 September | 8:00-14:00 — Practical session in person at Kockelscheuer
The training will be delivered by Frans Van Ackeleyen and Franck Palmaerts (RBIHF), who will share their experience and expertise throughout the programme.

What will the training cover?
Participants will work on the key skills required to officiate effectively, including:
- Ice safety and skating fundamentals
- Off-side and icing procedures
- Penalties and penalty procedures
- Positioning and movement on the ice
- The two- and three-official systems
- Communication and official signals
- Game procedures and reporting
- Practical officiating situations and decision-making
The programme combines theoretical learning, practical initiation and evaluation, providing participants with an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice on the ice.

Who can take part?
The training is aimed at people who are already involved in officiating and want to progress, as well as those looking to develop their skills and take the next step towards becoming an ice hockey official.

Whether you are a current official, a former player, a parent or simply someone interested in contributing to the game from a different perspective, this is an opportunity to learn more about officiating and become part of the community of ice hockey officials in Luxembourg.
